The Sail Loft is based in the historic town of South Queensferry near Edinburgh.
Kate & Craig Thomson are the management team - experienced sailors who,
after realising their dream to sail across the Atlantic, started the business
in 1997. Since then the team has grown and have developed a unique skills
base, widening their range from doing mainly sail repairs, canvas work and
rigging to an ever-increasing variety of commercial applications.
Their banner work can be seen outside the Edinburgh International Conference
Centre. They also supply bespoke solutions for challenges such as the tubular
“roman blind” styled conferencing modules made for Edinburgh City
Chambers.
The Sail Loft is also in demand for one-off interior design solutions. The
Atrium restaurant in Edinburgh now has a particularly unusually shaped fabric
ceiling to disguise their air-conducting, while Brittania Spice commissioned
special vertical rigged sails, used as privacy partitions between tables in
their restaurant.
